Matsunichi, Asia-based manufacturer of digital consumer electronics and IT products, will soon be releasing its MarquisPad MP977 tablet in the US market. The tablet features the 24.6-cm (9.7-inch) display of the Le Pan II. However, it's now running a speedier dual-core, 1.2GHz TI (Texas Instruments) chip.
Powered by Google's Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the device comes in a sleeker shell. "Storage is being cut in half over the Le Pan II to just 4GB between the internal memory and a bundled microSD card, though, and the battery is good for a very modest five hours," mentions a report by Engadget.

According to the report, Matsunichi (part of the Goldin Group) will be launching the tablet in the US this month itself. The MP977 will come with a price tag of $249 sticker.
The company also plans to launch the 25.7-cm (10.1-inch) MP1010 sometime between June and August this year. Featuring a total of 10GB of space, it will run on a quicker 1.5GHz TI processor.
